Following yesterdays news that Samuel L. Jackson let slip Elizabeth Olsen had indeed signed on for the role of Scarlet Witch in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, we’ve news of a GODZILLA reunion. While it’s been rumoured for quite sometime, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has now reportedly signed on the dotted line as Olsen’s speedy sibling Quicksilver in the superhero adventure sequel, again written and directed by Joss Whedon. Not really a surprise given the KICK-ASS actor has spoken in interviews about being approached.
The brother and sister characters, first found in Marvel’s X-MEN comic-books as the mutant offspring of Erik ‘Magneto’ Lensherr, will receive an origin makeover. Quicksilver specifically may even be looking at a possible name-change so to avoid potential lawsuits with 20th Century Fox following his own inclusion in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Rising newcomer Evan Peters is portraying him in that forthcoming interpretation.
Both Taylor-Johnson and Olsen lead Gareth Edward monstrous creature-feature, which judging from the awesome Comic Con footage I saw in San Diego, is looking damn special. Fingers crossed their appearance in superhero ensemble AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is just as exciting!
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is set to shoot early next year for release slated for 1st May 2015

The origin makeover is necessary since Pietro and Wanda can’t be mutants in this version. Changing their aliases, however, would be downright stupid, not to mention somewhat confusing to some. If anything, it’s Singer who should do the change since he was the one who rushed Quicksilver into DoFP in blatant spiteful retaliation after Marvel’s announcement that the siblings would feature in Avengers 2.
