Miyazaki’s ‘The Wind Rises’ US Trailer

Credited as “The Farewell Masterpiece” of Hayao Miyazaki, although he has spoken of retirement before, THE WIND RISES is getting everybody in the animation world excited. A strong contender for Oscar glory, as well as receiving favourable reviews, THE WIND RISES follows the life of Japanese fighter plane designer Jiro Horikoshi. This US trailer contains no dialogue, perhaps in an attempt to hide the fact that an English dub is not likely. It usually takes a couple of years to for a Studio Ghibli film te be released to western audiences, but THE WIND RISES will arrive in the US just 7 months after its Japanese release. It certainly looks breathtaking and the accompanying song is also delightful.

THE WIND RISES is released in the US on 21st February 2014. It stars the vocal talents (if not dubbed) of Hideaki Anno, Mirai Shida, Jun Kunimura, Miori Takimoto, and Hidetoshi Nishimura.
