Dame Maggie Smith is beyond a national treasure, she’s an international star and here it looks like she’s picked up another top role and is heading towards a wonderful performance. With a script from legendary playwright Alan Bennett, Maggie Smith stars as Miss Shepherd in THE LADY IN THE VAN, a woman of uncertain origins who originally meant to park in Bennett’s driveway for 3 weeks but ended up staying for 15 years.
The best thing is that it’s a true story and shows their relationship between family, friends and…my introduction isn’t doing this fantastic trailer any justice at all…just watch for yourself below.
The film co-stars Alex Jennings, Frances de la Tour, Jim Broadbent and Gwen Taylor and is directed by Nicholas Hytner:
