John Wick 2 villain: Common set to play head bad guy in movie sequel.
The John Wick 2 villain has been revealed.
The upcoming John Wick 2 villain will be played by rapper turned actor Common. The first John Wick movie, which starred Keanu Reeves, was a huge favourite here at The Hollywood News, and clearly amongst the public, where it grossed nearly $80 million around the world. While that may not sound like much, it only cost $20 million to make, so it was hugely profitable for Lionsgate, who produced it.
Chad Stahelskiis directing the film after shooting the first one alongside David Leitch. Common will apparently play the movies’ chief villain, a head of security for a female crime lord. The plot is being kept under wraps.
Common will play the John Wick 2 villain
The John Wick 2 villain is another huge part for Common, and it will follow a turn in Warner Bros’ big comic book movie of the summer of 2016, Suicide Squad. The announcement of him joining the John Wick sequel comes pretty much a year to the day since the original movie was released in US cinemas.
Here’s the plot of the first movie.
John Wick (Reeves) is a retired hit man who finds himself drawn back into the dangerous world of organised crime after the local mob boss’ son Iosef (Allen) breaks into his home and murders his dog, a gift left to him from his recently deceased wife.
The film came out in the UK in April, and we reviewed the movie quite favourably. Our own Kat Hughes had the following to say:
The neon visuals dazzle, and the techno soundtrack pulses. Each fight scene is accompanied by a pounding dance heavy score, with the occasional rock song thrown into the mix – The Matrix soundtrack anyone? Perfectly complimenting both the action pieces and the thumping soundtrack is a glorious visual style. Think graphic novel come to life and you’re along the right path. Fans of Alex Proyas’ The Crow will enjoy all the different colour filters that cast a vivid red, blue, green or purple hue over everything.
