YouTube are preparing a sequel series to Jumper. The series will be based on ‘Impulse,’ an adaptation of the third novel in Steven Gould’s series. Jumper was of course made into a film by Doug Liman back in 2008 with Hayden Christiansen in the lead. Liman will executive produce the new series, along with David Bartis, Gene Klein and Lauren LeFranc, while Jeffrey Lieber, Jason Horwitch, and Gary Spinelli are writing the screenplay.
Variety reports the news.
“This unique thriller pulled us in right from the opening scene,” said Susanne Daniels, global head of original content, YouTube. “We are thrilled to be in business with Doug Liman and everyone at UCP and Hypnotic.”
Here’s the official synopsis from the source material.
Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents’ arms. She’s teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she’s never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger.
Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom. That was the first time.
More on Impulse as we get it.
