J.J. Abrams Reveals The First Image From The Set Of ‘Star Wars Episode IX’

It started shooting just yesterday, and already we have a first official set image from the production of Star Wars: Episode IX. J.J. Abrams revealed the image via his just set-up Twitter account, featuring a blurred image of Chewbacca and John Boyega’s Finn.

Along with the image, Abrams said: “Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX”

Episode IX, which will be released in December 2019, is co-written and directed by Abrams and stars  Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, Billie Lourd, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant and Keri Russell. Also returning are Star Wars legend Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams, as well as Carrie Fisher in previously filmed footage.
