Mike Flanagan is reportedly in talks to direct a new version of The Exorcist. The new film at Blumhouse and Universal Pictures and The Insneider bagged the scoop.
The potential new film will follow the last ‘Exorcist’ movie ‘Believer’ which opened to $138 million in worldwide box-office receipts last year. While the film, directed by David Gordon Green, only had a $30 million budget it was far from a critical success with the studio now seemingly moving in a different direction with the next instalment. It looks like that planned movie won’t be sequel to the 2023 offereing but one with Flanagan ‘doing his own thing’.
Flanagan has a string of successes in the genre behind him, most notably the applauded adaptation of Stephen King’s sequel to The Shining, Doctor Sleep.
His other offerings include Hush, Gerald’s Game, and Oculus.
