Wyclef Jean wants to reform The Fugees.
The rapper, singer and producer is currently working on his solo material and says he hopes that when former bandmates Lauryn Hill and Pras Michel hear his new EP, ‘From the Hut to the Projects to the Mansion’ it will inspire them to reunite.
He told website DJBooth.net: “Somehow The Fugees is the soundtrack to everyone’s house. What I’m hoping is that this group really gets inspired by the new movement that I’m on right now, the new music that I’ve got coming out, the movement with the youth, and I’m hoping they’ll get inspired and be like, ‘Yo, let’s find Clef and let’s get this thing cracking.’ And it would be an honour to go in and make it a super album.”
Despite his hopes, Wyclef’s ex-bandmates have previously ruled out reuniting the group who first went their separate ways in 1997 and briefly worked together in 2005.
In 2007, Pras said: “Before I work with Lauryn Hill again, you will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and George W. Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion.”
