Acting helped Susan Sarandon stop being lazy.
The 60-year-old actress, who recently split from her partner Tim Robbins after 23 years together, said acting “helped her overcome” a feeling of “personal inertia”.
She added: “I was forced to find out about things I wouldn’t necessarily have left my little apartment to find out about.”
Additionally, the ‘Enchanted’ star asserted that she was “always trying to have a good time on set”.
She said: “I’ve worked on projects where actors have had to be antagonistic in order to get to a creative place.
“But, if I get myself into a state and try to hold on to it, I feel numb.”
Susan also claimed she prefers doing smaller roles to big, blockbuster movies.
She told The Scotsman newspaper: “It’s still not easy to find roles that offer more complex images of women.
“I do a lot of smaller parts that I find interesting, as opposed to the big, splashy movies that you get paid more money for. But that’s fine with me.”
