Superman reboot getting the help of Christopher Nolan

Batman Begins and The Dark Knight helmer Christopher Nolan is to assist and mentor the planned Superman reboot over at Warner Brothers, according to Deadline Hollywood. The new movie, which is nowhere near production as yet, will not (an we stress this fully) — NOT be written or directed by the British helmer. Nolan, who is finishing work on his other WB movie Inception, will act as mentor on the project, which is referred to on Deadline Hollywood as Superman 3.0.

Here’s a snippet:

Let us emphasize that Superman 3.0 is in the early stages of development. And we doubt Nolan would direct. This wouldn’t be a sequel to Superman Returns but a completely fresh franchise. As one of our insiders reassures: “It would definitely not be a followup toSuperman Returns.” Nolan coming on board follows a hiatus period for Superman after that 2006 reboot as the studio tried to figure out whether or not to make a sequel to that version starring Brandon Routh directed by Bryan Singer.

I really don’t know what I think about the news as we all really want Nolan to crack on with another Batty adventure! There was an update on that though. The site reports that David Goyer and Jonah Nolan are busy working on the script for the film, which we hope to see in cinemas by 2012 (please?).
