Here’s some great news, and one that has been out there ‘speculating’ if that is indeed the right terminology, for quite a while. The new reboot of the Spider-Man franchise will hit theaters across the planet on July 3rd, 2012 and it will be in glorious 3-D!!!
The news was announced by Sony Pictures today.
Spider-Man: The Reboot, or whatever they decide to call it, will be directed by (500) Days Of Summer helmer Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios.
Jeff Blake, Chairman of Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution released a staement today that read:
“Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we’re thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D. Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc’s fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise.”
