Mara and Tamblyn join Danny Boyle's 127 Hours

Two actresses have joined the cast of the new Danny Boyle film 127 Hours. James Franco is the lead in the movie, which revolves around his character, Aron Ralston, a mountain climber who manages to get stuck under a boulder and ends up apputating his own arm. Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn are said two actresses who will play hikers that Ralston meets on his way through the Utah desert. The film is based on a true story.

Mara is known for a her roles in the Marky Mark film Shooter, Brokeback Mountain and the last season of TV show Entourage. She also appears in the upcoming Iron Man 2. Amber Tamblyn starred in The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and the US version of The Ring movie.

Boyle is hot property coming off his Oscar success with Slumdog Millionaire last year. That film’s writer Simon Beaufoy also pens 127 Hours. Shooting starts in the Spring.
