Odeon confirm that Alice In Wonderland will NOT screen in their cinemas

Odeon, one of the UK’s biggest cinema chains has confirmed that they will NOT be screening Tim Burton’s upcoming film Alice In Wonderland. The news comes following the studio’s descision to cut the time between the film’s cinema run and home entertainment release.

Alice In Wonderland, which stars Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is getting some really good buzz ahead of its March 6 release date.

The BBC report:

Disney said the plan, which would allow it to release the film on DVD at the end of May, was an isolated one-off.

But Odeon claimed it would “set a new benchmark, leading to a 12-week window becoming rapidly standard”.

The Vue chain has yet to confirm whether Burton’s 3D adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic will be screened in its cinemas.

Cineworld cinemas will show the movie, however, after reaching an independent agreement with the Disney studio.

The cut will see Odeon cinemas affected in the UK, Ireland and Italy.

The film will get a Royal premiere in London’s Leicester Square on Thursday evening.

But apparently Odeon is still hosting Alice’s premier at their Leicester Square theater? Curiouser and curiouser. No worries for me, though – already bought my tickets for a U.S. theater.

Terra Firma naughty, naughty, they have known about longer than they are saying. I hate the Odeon for doing this so I will not be giving my money to them in the future.
