She has people like June Carter, wife to Johnny Cash, as real-life folk that she has portrayed on screen, and now Reese Witherspoon can add Peggy Lee to that list.
Variety reports that the actress is currently in talks to play the singer in an as yet untitled biopic.
Witherspoon — the driving force behind the project — is producing with Marc Platt. Fox and Witherspoon’s reps are still hammering out the details of her deal to topline.
Witherspoon secured the rights to Lee’s story from the late singer’s estate after meeting with Lee’s granddaughter, Holly Foster-Wells.
The project is currently being set up at Fox 2000 with Nora Ephron attached to write and direct.
