The trade papers this morning, along with Paramount Pictures are saying that both Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks are gearing up to star in a new film called Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, the writer who brought us Everything Is Iluminated. Elijah Wood starred in the film version of that book back in 2005.
The follow-up will star Bullock and Hanks in the leads, and although the story is told through multiple narratives, the real focus of the story is their intelligent but quirky 9-year-old son Oskar Schell. That role is yet to be cast.
Filming is expected to start in mid-January 2011 in New York City.
