This is awesome news. According to Deadline, Avatar and Titanic helmer James Cameron is looking to revive one of his earlier films for the small screen. The legendary director is apparently hoping to adapt his 1994 film for TV as a kind of spin-off series. We have no idea as to who will be starring in it (we doubt whether that it will be Governor Schwarzenegger, though much stranger things have happened), or which character the series will revolve around, but what excellent news for fans of the film!
True Lies was based around the character of Harry Tasker (Schwarzenegger), a secret agent who after learning of his wife’s extra-marital affair, he pursues her and uses his intelligence resources in a job he kept secret from her.
According to Deadline, Rene Echevarria, the creator of “The 4400,” will serve as the showrunner with Cameron operating as a producer.
