Will Ferrell and 1600 superhero fans break world record at LA Megamind event

A massive event took place in Los Angeles earlier today featuring actor Will Ferrell attempting to break the world record for number of costumed superheroes in one play. It was the first time ever that 1580 people dressed as superheroes had been in the same place at the same time.

Taking place at the Staples Center in LA, and to coincide with Ferrell’s new animated superhero flick Megamind, the event was officially recorded by Guinness World Record reps. The event also kicked off Megamonth, a month long series of events to celebrate the released of the film, which also features the voices of Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Tina Fey. Apparently, even Spider-Man genius creator Stan Lee was also spotted at the event.

Take a look at our gallery of images from the event below.

Megamind is released on November 5, 2010.
