Summit Entertainment pick up Tempest

Variety are reporting that Summit Entertainment, the studio that brought TWILIGHT to the big-screen, have optioned the rights to the novel TEMPEST by Julie Cross. The sci-fi novel from the debut author is as yet unpublished, but will hit book stores very, very soon. It will be published by Thomas Dunne Books, a division of St. Martin’s Press, but will be produced MacMillan Films.

The trade says that Cross’s novel is the first in a trilogy about a 19-year-old time traveler who witnesses his girlfriend’s murder and inadvertently jumps back two years. While stuck there, he’s recruited by a shadowy government agency run by the man he thought was his father and vows to save his girlfriend.
