MICHAEL CLAYTON and DUPLICITY helmer Tony Gilroy has reportedly signed on the dotted line to direct the fourth film in the Jason Bourne series. Gilroy wrote the screenplays for THE BOURNE SUPERMACY and THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM, the second and third movies in the series, both loosely adapted from the famous novels by Robert Ludlum. The fourth film, titled THE BOURNE LEGACY, is also scripted by Gilroy.
We have no word as to whether Matt Damon will return as Bourne or not. He previously stated that while he wouldn’t return to the franchise without Supremacy and Ultimatum helmer Paul Greengrass, he is excited about a fourth movie being made. Take from that what you will. The word is, according to Deadline, that Universal will replace him and go with a fourth movie if he does turn it down.
