Fox loves Damon Lindelof’s Alien prequel script, plus here’s another who could play the female lead

That is quite possibly one of the longest headlines that I have every written here on THN, but this sarticle deserves it as news reaches us this morning that LOST co-creator Damon Lindelof has handed over his screenplay for the planned ALIEN prequel, and the execs at Fox absolutely love it!!! Of course, we have no details in regards to plot, but we hear that the film will be set 35 years before Ridley Scott‘s original.

The word, according to Vulture, is that Fox love the script because it contains no elaborate set pieces (so that will help to keep the budget down).

The juicy news is that the site lists Natalie Portman at the top of the list to play the lead part in the film. Woah! Where did that come from?  The only other actress in the frame is THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO star Naomi Rapace.

Vulture can report exclusively that at the top of the list is Natalie Portman. (She recently detached herself from the adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith’s Pride and Prejudice and Zombies at Lionsgate Films out of concern that she was now too old to play the part of Jane Austen’s Elizabeth Bennet. Portman turns 30 next June; Bennet is only 20 in both Austen and Grahame-Smith’s versions of Pride.) Right behind Portman is the already-reported Noomi Rapace, star of David Fincher’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
