The latest SPIDER-MAN rumour to hit the web is one regarding as to what villain that just confirmed Welsh actor Rhys Ifans will be playing in the Marc Webb directed film. The word on the street today is that the NOTTING HILL star is to assume the role of The Lizard in the new movie. This rumour originates from The Wrap.
There had been rumors across the blogosphere that Sony was thinking of bringing back Venom for the franchise reboot, but that character will not be featured in the movie, two individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap.

The Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors) is a fictional character, a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe and enemy of Spider-Man.
