Locke & Key heading to the small screen

Dreamworks TV and Fox are bringing Joe Hill’s, the son of Stephen King, LOCKE & KEY comic book series to TV courtesy of Steven Spielberg, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci with the latter on the writing duties.

LOCKE & KEY is a comic about a family that is entangled in a strange and murderous plot for an unknown goal featuring a number of keys that have mystical powers being able to turn people into ghosts, women, opening peoples heads and numerous other bizarre powers.

Fox decided to commit to the proposed project after signing Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to an exclusive TV contract as the duo have had tremendous success the last few years with STAR TREK, FRINGE, ALIAS, TRANSFORMERS and HAWAII FIVE-0.

The show isn’t the only property of Joe Hill that looks to be having the Hollywood treatment with A HEART SHAPED BOX being adapted by Neil Jordan.

With what looks to be a slam dunk for Frank Darabont and Robert Kirkman‘s THE WALKING DEAD, the huge ratings for NO ORDINARY FAMILY, it looks that the networks are turning back to comic based or inspired projects for TV ideas.  Hopefully this means that PREACHER can get the push it so rightly needs.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
