Aronofsky To Direct “Machine Man” Adaptation

Darren Aronofsky is apparently continuing his move into the mainstream, as Heat Vision reports he has agreed to direct an adaptation of Max Barry’s partial script, MACHINE MAN for Mandalay Pictures.

The story is set around a egotistical engineer with serious body-image issues who thinks it’s a good idea to begin replacing his own body parts with titanium metal. And why not? Of course, his new, improved super-human body do not go unnoticed, and make him a good catch for all the companies out there who want to use him for evil purposes. So after all his hard work, he’s forced to go on the run.

The screenplay is currently in development, with Aronofsky and Mark Heyman (his co-writer on BLACK SWAN) joined up again to work on it. Catherine Schulman is going to produce and Barry will also be part of the MACHINE MAN team as executive producer.

Whilst I’m still unsure whether he can really pull if off with WOLVERINE 2, this films sounds much more up Aronofsky’s directorial street.
