“The Hobbit” Finally Finds Its Filming Home

Tissues at the ready Ireland, Scotland, and Canada, it’s official, THE HOBBIT is going to be staying in New Zealand.

Prime Minister, John Key has announced that a deal has been finalised with Warner Bros, to make sure  Peter Jackson’s film stays put.

In a press conference statement, Key said:

“An agreement has been reached between the New Zealand government and Warner Bros that will enable the two ‘Hobbit’ movies to be directed by Sir Peter Jackson to be made in New Zealand […] We will be moving to ensure that New Zealand law in this area is settled to give film producers like Warner Bros the confidence they need to produce their movies in New Zealand.”

But it hasn’t come without the NZ government spending a bob or too. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they’ll pay up to $25 million to keep the movie in its home filming land.

Well, alright, if you want it that bad…
