TRON: LEGACY mania swept IMAX and conventional cinemas across the globe last night as 20 minutes from the December 17 released movie was screened to fans for the first time. The screenings sold out in the US and Canada (see release below) as expection is high for the Walt Disney sequel.

Walt Disney Studios and IMAX Corporation announced today that tickets for TRON Night: An IMAX 3D Experience, featuring an exclusive 20-plus minute sneak-peek of their highly anticipated film “TRON: Legacy,” sold out rapidly after going on sale October 12th for the October 28th screenings in 120 IMAX theaters across the United States and Canada.
Fans rushed to get the free tickets for a chance to step into the cutting-edge, 3D digital world of Walt Disney Pictures’ high-tech adventure. “The response to TRON Night has been truly remarkable,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment. “Over 70 percent of the available TRON Night tickets sold out in just a few hours, with some locations selling out in five minutes. Fans came out in unprecedented numbers, which reaffirms our excitement and commitment to this worldwide event. ‘TRON: Legacy,’ Disney and IMAX are the perfect fit and this occasion only marks the beginning of what’s to come on December 17th with the launch of this event movie.”
Although tickets to TRON Night events in the US and Canada are now completely sold out, tickets to select IMAX 3D midnight screenings of the feature “TRON: Legacy” are on sale now and may be purchased at all participating IMAX locations and online at Disney.com/TRON.
