Broadcast Yourself… the slogan that everybody the world over has come recognise as YOUTUBE.
Well today that organisation lost its Chief Executive Officer amid the reorganisation of the video platform by internet giant Google.
Chad Hurley has come to the apparently difficult decision that he would step down from his post with the company during this sequence of events. He had been a co-founder of Youtube before selling it in 2006 to Google. Other co-founders Steven Chan and Jawed Karim were also involved in this sale, netting over $1.65 billion dollars for their hard work.
According to reports, Hurley may still be associated with the web video company externally as an adviser and is optimistic that the company can grow even further post the reorganization being completed by Google. Over their reign as owners of Youtube, Google has played a large part in taking the site to scales of success that it had not seen before.
Every day a couple of billion videos on the website are watched by users like us all over the world. We sometimes embed them here on this website or you may do so yourself on Myspace pages or Facebook profiles. New videos are uploaded to the archives every single minute, every hour of the day… 365 days of every year.
The success of the videos of YouTube has accounted for a large proportion of revenue for Google. According to official statistics they make over two and a half billion dollars by way of displaying adverts alongside the videos played on the website. Wow.
