LOST star Jorge Garcia has been cast in JJ Abrams’ new TV project ALCATRAZ, according to Deadline.
The project is said to be “about secrets and the most infamous prison of all time.” According to the trade site, the show “centers on a group of missing Alcatraz prisoners and guards who reappear in the present day. It chronicles the efforts of a team of FBI agents to track them down and unravel the mystery behind their disappearance thirty years prior. Garcia will play the hippy geek Dr. Diego Soto, the world’s foremost expert on Alcatraz.”
The pilot for the proposed series is based on scripts written by Elizabeth Sarnoff, Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt.
Danny Cannon, the guy behind the original JUDGE DREDD movie will direct the pilot for Warner Brothers.
Shooting kicks off in San Francisco and Vancouver in January 2011.
