The fourth Pirates of the Caribbean adventure, ON STRANGER TIDES, doesn’t reach movie screens until next May but apparently plans are already afoot for more of Captain Jack Sparrow.
Reports suggest that a fifth and sixth Pirates movie will be shot back-to-back.
Mere months ago, it was looking likely that next summer’s adventure would be Disney’s last, but now Hitfix reports that they’re ramping up for the franchise to set sail long into the future.
“Disney has begun quietly telling cast and crew to set aside a major block of time in the very near future so they can shoot Pirates 5 and Pirates 6. And, yes, once again, they will be shooting them back-to-back as one giant film, and then they’ll release them as two films,” Drew McWeeny said.
Of course, there’s the minor issue of co-ordinating the cast and crew’s schedules (with Depp now attached to THE LONE RANGER) and of course there’s the fear that we may be in for a repeat of the mixed bag that was DEAD MAN’S CHEST and AT WORLDS END.
