Its only been a year since word got out that there would be an adaptation of MR POPPER’S PENGUINS by Richard & Florence Atwater, but starring Jim Carrey, the film will be out later in the year, quite an impressive turn around. Here’s the Imdb synopsis;
The life of a businessman begins to change after he inherits six penguins, and as he transforms his apartment into a winter wonderland, his professional side starts to unravel.
The film is slightly different from that of the original exchanging the Jim Carrey’s character of Tom Popper from a poor housepainter to that of a seemingly successful businessman. Also originally the main character is mailed the penguins from a Radio DJ as a surprise for never being able to see the North or South Pole. In this adaptation he inherits them from his estranged father. So if your looking for a faithful rendition then you’ll be out of luck but I’m more than confident that this will still be worth a look.
USA Today put up the first screen shots of the film with Carrey doing his usual Carrey things but with penguins. Also in the film is Angela Lansbury, Madeline Carrolle, Carla Gugino and it will be out on 12 August 2011.
