This past Sunday evening saw the first major awards event of the year take place in Hollywood, the Golden Globes! The awards honours both television and film, and as expected, the big winner on the night was actually THE SOCIAL NETWORK (quite deservedly), which picked up Best Film (Drama) and Best Director for David Fincher. THE KING’S SPEECH was largely ignored, but Colin Firth did manage to walk away for Best Actor in a comedy or musical. Annette Bening was awarded Best Actress (Comedy Or Musical) for THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, with Natalie Portman getting Best Actress (Drama) for BLACK SWAN. Paul Giamatti was awarded Best Actor for a Comedy or Musical for his role in BARNEY’S VERSION. Christian Bale and Melissa Leo picked up supporting actor awards for THE FIGHTER.
TOY STORY 3 was the best animated feature and THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT was awarded the Best Film (Comedy or Musical) award.
