The King’s Speech picks up top gong at PGA Awards

THE KING’S SPEECH has been awarded the Best Picture award at this year’s Producer’s Guild of America awards in the US. The Tom Hooper directed film, which stars Colin Firth as King George V, beat off competition from the likes of Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours, Darren Aronofsky’s BLACK SWAN, INCEPTION and THE FIGHTER for the top gong.

TOY STORY 3 won the award for animated feature, while WAITING FOR SUPERMAN picked up the best documentary award.
