How to Train Your Dragon cleans up at Annie Awards

DreamWorks scooped 10 gongs for How to Train Your Dragon at this year’s Annie Awards, in a ceremony boycotted by rival Disney.

The Viking-themed movie won top honours including best animated feature.

Pixar scored just one award – best animated short for Day and Night, after the firm’s owner, Disney, refused to engage in the Annies lobbying process, which it claimed favoured DreamWorks.

Sony Pictures’ Alice in Wonderland won a new prize for character animation in a live action production.

The Annie Awards, now in their 37th year, honour achievements in animation across film, TV and commercials, and are usually seen as a forecast for the Oscars.

However, Pixar’s Toy Story 3 remains the clear frontrunner, having garnered critical acclaim and grossed over £1 billion worldwide.
