Josh Zetumer is hired to write the Robocop remake for MGM

Screenwriter Josh Zetumer is to work on the script for the planned ROBOCOP remake, which will be directed by Jose Padilha. Zetumer is Hollywood hot property after penning the as-yet-unproduced INFILTRATOR, which may be turned into a movie starring none other than Leonardo DiCaprio.

MGM are resurrecting the ROBOCOP franchise with Brazillian helmer Padilha (ELITE SQUAD) in control. The original 1987 movie about a murdered police officer in Detroit who was brought back to life as a crime fighting super cop, was directed by Paul Verhoeven and spawned two sequels and a TV series.

The original movie (not the sequels) is pretty much timeless, but I’m kid of interested as to what a modern day version was look like. A little bit of advice MGM. No PG13. Hard R is the only way.
