MEN IN BLACK 3 Loses Baldwin

The new MEN IN BLACK film just can’t seem to catch a break. The film is already on a short hiatus since December, not returning after the Christmas break due to script issues. Now, even though the film is a third shot, Alec Baldwin (30 ROCK) has backed out on the production.

Talking to Vulture, Baldwin plainly states: “I’m not doing that. I’m out of it; the schedule didn’t work out.”  I’m hoping and guessing that none of his scenes have been shot yet but you never know. Baldwin looked to play the head of the MIB in the late sixties which Smith travels back in time too save a young Agent K played by Josh Brolin.

The script issues seem to stem from Sony Pictures starting production with only half a script as they were worried the New York tax breaks would run out, which they didn’t being extended for another five years instead. The script should of been completed by the time the production looked to start back up in Jan/Feb time but it seems that Barry Sonnenfeld wishes to change the direction of the script but Will Smith, who has script approval, likes the way its going.

However it goes the film is said to go back in production on March 28th and released for May 25th 2012 so Smith will most likely get his way.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
