CASTING: Alan Tudyk befriends some Vamps against Lincoln

That’s right, fan-fav Alan Tudyk, best known for his role of Wash in FIREFLY and SERENITY has signed on as Stephen A. Douglas in Timur Bekmambetov’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER adaptation.

Not knowing a hell of a lot about the history of American politics, I found out that Stephen A. Douglas was a political opponent of Lincoln who was a Illinois politician and involved in a very famous and important debate against Lincoln. He won a US Senate seat against Lincoln but was then beaten by him for the Oval Office in 1860. Douglas who was pro-slavery will be the political face of the dastardly Southern Vampires which should provide much fun for Tudyk.

So the casting for the film is shaping up very nicely with the addition of Tudyk who joins Benjamin Walker (Lincoln), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Mary Todd), Jimmi Simpson (Joshua Speed), Robin McLeavy (Nancy Hanks Lincoln), Anthony Mackie (William Seward) and British golden boy(Henry Sturgess).

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPPIRE HUNTER is out August 22nd 2012

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
