Coldplay to finance new British film

MTV are reporting that British rock group Coldplay are to finance a British film. ASHES will be directed by their friend Mat Whitecross, who they all met while at university.

The new film will start shooting in the Isle of Man next week, and will be budgeted in the region of around £5 million. Whitecross directed last year’s SEX, DRUGS & ROCK & ROLL, which was about the life of Ian Dury, and has directed numerous Coldplay videos in the past, including the one for their last single Christmas Lights.

We don’t know much about the film itself, but all four members of the band, Chris Martin, Will Champion, Guy Berryman and Jonny Buckland, will all act as executive producers on the project.
