Former LA cop to write Logan’s Run

Yes, you did read that headline right. Former Los Angeles police officer, and writer of GANGSTER SQUAD Will Beall is in talks to write the long planned remake of LOGAN’S RUN. The film currently has Ryan Gosling attached to star and BRONSON helmer Nicolas Winding Refn attached to direct.

Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman are producing. The news arrived today courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog. The film is set in a ‘future society where people are executed upon reaching a certain age and those that seek to avoid their fate are deemed “Runners.”‘

If you are wondering what the aforementioned GANGSTER SQUAD is all about, well it hasn’t been released, or indeed shot yet. That project is based around a series of articles that Beall adapted from The Los Angeles Times. Rueben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) is attached to direct. Beall will also pen the LETHAL WEAPON remake for Warner Brothers.

Busy boy.
