Mel Gibson joins the cast of heist movie Sleight of Hand

Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson is in heavy talks to join the cast of SLEIGHT OF HAND, a new heist film set up with Brad Mirman in the director’s chair.

The film already boasts an impressive cast with Kiefer Sutherland, Gerard Depardieu, Til Schweiger, Thomas Jane, Johnny Hallyday, Jon Lovitz, Eric Cantona, Jean Luc Couchard, Nora Arnezeder and Patrice Cols already lined up to appear.

The film is about an international cast of small time crooks in Paris, who inadvertently end up possessing a rare gold coin belonging to a notorious French gangster. The leader of the crew calls his uncle (Depardieu), a retired criminal, to help them raise the money to repay the gangster. The series of mix-ups and double crosses culminate as the gangs are pit face to face, chasing through Paris.

Kind of like the sound of this! Filming is set to kick off in July.

Mel will next be seen in cinemas in Jodie Foster’s THE BEAVER, which is out next month. The film has been getting some pretty good buzz, and Gibson even rolled up at the Cannes premiere of the film last night.

Is this going to be one of the biggest comebacks of all?
