Craig Brewer to take on Tarzan

Tarzan is set to return to the silver screen in an upcoming trilogy, according to Total Film. The films are set to be written and directed by Craig Brewer. The FOOTLOOSE remake director has a lot to live up to with project as he is set to join a long lineage of movies (over 80 features so far, in fact).

The character, created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, is most commonly associated with actor (and Olympic swimmer) Johnny Weissmuller. At this early stage there is no word on the casting of the King of the Jungle, however  Andy Serkis may be a safe bet as chimpanzee Cheetah. The new TARZAN movie is to be produced by Warner Bros. who have reportedly been keen to revive the franchise for a while now.
