It’s no secret that the upcoming SUPER 8 is heavily influenced by the movies of yesteryear. Riffing on the adventure movies that defined J.J. Abrams’ youth, SUPER 8 promises to include a touch of E.T., a dash of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, and just a hint of THE GOONIES. And with the involvement of Steven Spielberg, there’s no doubt that the film with have that distinct Amblin feel. How appropriate then that this old-school poster should arrive online, an obvious homage to the movie art of the 80s. In fact, the poster was even created by Drew Struzan, the man behind the GREMLINS and E.T. artwork.
As if we weren’t excited enough, this poster has amped it up. Big time.
Super 8 is released August 5th.
