POONGSAN is the second feature from director Jong Jai-hong, a long time collaborator of Kim Ki-duk’s who also wrote this new film.

Poongsan, a young man regularly crosses over between the North and South in helping to reunite separated families. Even though this can be highly dangerous, he takes the risk without fear. One day, by a secret request from South Korean government agents he sneaks into North to bring over In-oak, the lover of a high-ranking North Korean defector. On their way to South Korea, they fall for each other while experiencing numerous life-and-death situations. However upon their arrival, they’re welcomed by agents who capture and torture Poongsan while In-oak gets disappointed with her old lover who has changed so much over the last couple of years.

POONGSAN is out in Korea June 23rd 2011.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
