Variety is reporting that Legendary Pictures are in heavy negotiations to acquire the rights to make a movie based on the popular toy car lane HOT WHEELS. The trade says that the company, affiliated with Warner Brothers, are talking to the toy’s manufacturer’s Mattel. They also say that Legendary are looking to make an ‘edgy’ movie very much like FAST FIVE, the hugely successful movie released earlier in the year, the fifth film in the FAST AND THE FURIOUS franchise.
Joel Silver had previously been attached to bring the film to screens, but that deal was never pursued.
No director or stars, or even script have been mentioned as yet.
