Despite its lacklustre reviews, it seems that GREEN LANTERN has already raked in a hefty sum at the box office. According to Deadline, takings from the the movie’s early midnight screenings were estimated around $3.5 million, which is roughly the same as X-MEN: FIRST CLASS achieved a few weeks earlier. THOR, another of the summer’s big comic releases performed slightly under at its midnight showing, with $3.25 million.
However, it’s safe to say that the midnight attendees are the diehard GREEN LANTERN fans, and whether the poorly-reviewed film can continue to perform with the casual cinemagoer remains to be seen.
