James Cameron talks up the Avatar sequels

James Cameron has been speaking out about those two AVATAR movies that he’s currently in the process of writing. Keeping it all in the family, Cameron was talking to Fox News regarding the films, which will be shot back-to-back in a new studio facility in Manhattan Beach, California supposedly from next year.

Speaking at the Covenant House Gala in LA, where Cameron and his wife were receiving an award for their charity work with the homeless, the filmmaker said:

“We’re shooting two films back-to-back, so I’m writing two scripts, not one, which will complete a [three]-film story arc – not really a trilogy, but just an overall character arc so I’m pretty excited about that,” he said. “We’re doing a lot of preliminary work right now on new software and new animation techniques and so on. We’re creating a new facility in Manhattan Beach so everybody that’s not already dead is coming back.”

Wow. He went on…

“The second I am sitting down writing, I just go to Pandora. I don’t think about that stuff, about standing on a red carpet. It has its own life, really. The characters have their own lives.”

The films are set for release in December of 2014 for AVATAR 2, and December of 2015 for AVATAR 3.
