You like ANNIE, right? No? Well, neither do I. So, let’s all get ready to change our minds as everyone’s favourite musical about an orphan child that isn’t OLIVER is being re-imagined/booted/made by dream team Will Smith and Jay-Z.
That’s right, the Fresh Prince has teamed up with Hova himself to produce a hip-hop reworking of ANNIE starring Smith’s youngest, Willow, of Whip Your Hair fame. But that’s not all, as Smith’s MIB 3 co-star Emma Thompson is in negotiations to pen the screenplay. It’s a bit of a leap for all concerned, but it could be an inspired one. Jay-Z, of course, sold millions when he sampled Hard Knock Life from this very musical. And with Willow’s insane amounts of charisma for a girl her age, the fun potential is off the charts.
Maybe Thompson will shave her head and assume the Albert Finney role. You’d pay to see that, right? No?
…You’re very negative today.
