French actress joins Hong Sangsoo

The always brillant, Hong Sangsoo (OKI’S MOVIE), has a new project in the works, teaming up with Parisian actress, Isabelle Huppert, seen in some english language films including I HEART HUCKABEES as well as a myriad of French films (THE PIANO TEACHER, 8 WOMEN).

Huppert has mentioned on numerous occasions a desire to work with any of the great Korean filmmakers around on a visit to Korea eariler in the year. She has found her director in Hong Sangsoo, a filmmaker which has a special affinity with the French, spending a number of years in Paris and even making a couple of his films (NIGHT & DAY) in the city.

There is very little known about the production at this point with even Huppert only knowing;

“The only thing I know [about] the project is that we will turn in a small seaside town three hours from Seoul and there are five characters.”

The film also will star Hong Sangsoo regular Yu Jun-sang (HAHAHA, THE DAY HE ARRIVES). With the quick turnaround on Hong’s films (he released two films last year), this new project is looking to have a late 2011 Korean release and will most likely be out at next years Cannes Film Festival. Here’s a taste of Mr Hong Sangsoo if you have never seen one of his films, the trailer for THE DAYS HE ARRIVES.

Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug). While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development. He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
