New casting announcement for Park Chan-wook’s english directorial debut with Jacki Weaver landing a role in STOKER. Weaver has recently been the apple in Hollywood’s eye after her rivating performance in the Austrialian crime drama, ANIMAL KINGDOM, released earlier in the year and as now scored with Korea’s most popular auteur.

Weaver has just wrapped on Judd Apatow’s new feature THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT and will be whisked away to lovely Tennesse for shooting on STOKER.  Her part in the suspense/thriller film is as yet unknown but she is joining a cast of Mia Wasikowska (ALICE IN WONDERLAND, 2010), who is the central role in the film, Nicole Kidman and Matthew Goode with a screenplay penned by PRISON BREAK’S Wentworth Miller. Here is the synopsis:

a fantastical, fairy tale-like family drama that follows the story of an eccentric teen, India (Wasikowska), whose enigmatic and estranged uncle (Goode) returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father. People, however, start to go missing in her hometown at the same time and she soon discovers that her uncle may be the cause.
