Dreamworks Animation part from Paramount

Dreamworks Animation have finally parted company with Paramount Pictures after the animation house told the studio that it would not accept a new offer to direct their films. The current deal between the two runs out in 2012, and although Paramount offered to continue to distribute Dreamworks movies for another year for just 8% (which would rise afterwards), the Jerry Katzenberg headed company rejected it after wanting to pay much less. It is thought that Paramount will now form their own animation division.

So, who knows where Dreamworks will head now. It’s not known whether they will distribute alone (at a huge cost), or go to another studio. The only problem with that is that the big players, Fox, Sony, Universal and Walt Disney have their own animation divisions, leaving just Warner Brothers who apparently don’t want to know.

Dreamworks’ last film, KUNG FU PANDA 2, grossed $600 million.
