Bubba Smith in Police Academy
Sad news reaches THN today that the former NFL and POLICE ACADEMY actor Bubba Smith (aka Moses Hightower), has died at the age of 66. The cause of death was said to have been of natural causes. The sportsman turned actor died at his LA home on Wednesday (3rd August).
Smith, who was born Charles Aaron Smith, played for pro teams Baltimore Colts, Oakland Raiders and Houston Oilers from 1967-76, before turning to acting, appearing in television shows and specials in the late 1970’s and early 80’s before hitting gold for his most fanous role as Hightower in POLICE ACADEMY in 1984. He appeared in all of the sequels, and even the 1997 TV series.
