Jesse Eisenberg and Richard Ayoade to collaborate on The Double

Following his excellent debut SUBMARINE, Brit comedian turned director Richard Ayoade is set to adapt Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s ‘The Double’ – and even better still, Vulture has reported that Jesse Eisenberg has signed on to take the lead role(s).

The original story tells of the disgruntled Golyadkin, who meets his exact double. Th double soon throws Golyadkin’s world into chaos when he attempts to take over his life and destroy his reputation.

With impressive tuns in films such as THE SOCIAL NETWORK (2010), Eisenberg is a smart choice for what will undoubtedly be a cerebral and thoughtful project. Eisenberg will presumably play both roles, much like Sam Rockwell in MOON (2009). No details yet on production or release dates.
